Longhorn football player arrested in Hays County

Longhorn football player Donald “D.J.” Eugene Monroe was arrested over the weekend in Hays County, said Lt. Leroy Opiela of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

At 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, Deputy Manuel Delarosa observed a silver 1996 Buick Park Avenue driving in an erratic manner on southbound IH 35, near the 217 mile marker.

Monroe, 20, was the driver and sole occupant in the vehicle. He was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), a class B misdemeanor, said Opelia.

Monroe was placed in the Hays County Jail. He was magistrate by Judge

Joanne Prado with a bond set at $3,000.

Bond was posted and Monroe was released at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
