Hays County Crime Stoppers celebrates 2009 successes in its efforts to ‘Take a Bite Out of Crime’

The Hays County Crime Stoppers program celebrated a year of hard work and progress in its efforts to make area communities safe from crime.

The group and some special guests gathered for the annual dinner Monday at The Price Center.

Crime Stoppers pays a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads police to the arrest and/or grand jury indictment of those involved in or wanted for a crime.

Those who call Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and are given a code number that is used for payment of the reward. The tipster’s identity is never revealed and that person has no further involvement in the case.

Crime Stoppers will also pay rewards for info about crimes such as drugs, graffiti, illegal weapons and alcohol violations.

Crime Stoppers helps to create Campus Crime Stoppers programs at various schools throughout the county, and it also works to provide child identification packets to parents through its KidCare program.
