The incident occurred Aug. 26 at Kelsea’s Place apartments, where police said the suspects kicked down the front door of Burse’s apartment just hours after an altercation.

Burse was transported to Central Texas Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital.

According to San Marcos Police Commander Terry Nichols, James told police he shot Burse several times after Taylor kicked down the door.

Both remain in Hays County jail. Bond for James was set at $750,000, while Taylor’s bond is $500,000.
