San Marcos — Six people are facing drug charges, some of them felonies, in arrests coming out of the investigation into a series of “home invasion” style attempted robberies that occurred in September and October.
All resulted from search warrants at the crime scenes executed by the SMPD and Hays County Narcotics Task Force, Assistant District Attorney Fred Weber said.
The most serious charges are second degree felonies against two people who were in the home at 733 Oscar Smith Street on Oct. 22, when 21-year-old Denis Andrew Nefedov burst in.
One of the residents, who has not been identified, shot Nefedov three times. He survived and has been charged with aggravated robbery.
Weber said resident Beau Alan Stanley, 24, was charged with possession of between four and 200 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a second degree felony; possession of between 20 and 79 doses of LSD; a third degree felony; possession of less than a gram of methamphetamine, a state jail felony; possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor; and possession of methocarbamol, a Class A Misdemeanor.
A second resident, 21-year-old Haven Dennise Seward, was charged with possession of between four and 200 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a second degree felony.
Facing misdemeanor marijuana possession charges are former residents of 926 Chestnut Street Mark Sidney Smith, 25, and Brian Matthew Smith, 22.
Someone in that residence shot two Luling teenagers to death and wounded a third when the group entered uninvited on Sept. 4. Police have not said who pulled the trigger.
The sole surviving suspect, 18-year-old Frank Cantu, has been charged with capital murder in the case under Texas’ “law of parties.” He also faces two counts of non-capital murder.
In the third case, which occurred Oct. 20 at University Heights Apartments, one of the residents was shot and wounded by one of the suspects.
Arrested for the robbery were Michael Wilson and Justin Pickaree, both of San Antonio.
Two residents have now been charged with Class A Misdemeanor marijuana possession. They were identified as 23-year-old Andrue Paul Rountree and 22-year-old Rodney Dee Stephenson Jr.
Weber said those two may face additional charges, “pending lab analysis of items seized from the residence.”
