Woman in foggy mishap taken to hospital

A Luling woman was taken to Austin’s University Medical Center at Brackenridge Friday morning after her car hit the back of a van on Hwy. 80.

The mishap occurred around 7:50 a.m. at Hwy. 80 and CR 266, right at the Hays/Caldwell County line.

According to DPS Trooper Rheanne Garcia, both vehicles were headed inbound on 80 and the 2000 Chevrolet van was stopped at the light to make a left turn onto 266.

Garcia said the driver of the 2005 Ford sedan didn’t see the van in heavy fog and ran into the back of it.

The driver of the van was transported to Central Texas Medical Center.

In addition to DPS, San Marcos Police and deputies from both Hays and Caldwell County were on scene, along with the San Marcos Fire Department.

Garcia is continuing her investigation.
