Hays County authorities weren’t releasing much information Thursday on a case involving a body found in a vehicle; but a New Braunfels radio station has posted online more details about the case.
KGNB reported on its Web site Thursday that the men were in a Ford pickup truck that New Braunfels police pulled over on IH-35 southbound near Solms Road around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
“During the course of that traffic stop, officers checked the bed of the pick-up and discovered a wrapped up human body. New Braunfels detectives were called to the scene, and the two people inside the truck were taken into custody,” the Web site said.
Information that has not been disclosed led officers to believe the victim had been slain in Hays County, and summoned Hays deputies to the scene.
Hays Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Thielen said neither man had been charged as of mid-afternoon Thursday.
"They are just being held in our custody for questioning and interviewing," Thielen said, adding that investigators are trying to determine "what part they had in this, if they had a part."
Thielen said he did not know if the victim was male or female.
He described the investigation is involving multiple agencies.
If the crime is determined to have occurred in Hays County, it would be the second murder of the year.
Just last week, Mark David Simmons, charged with capital murder in connection with the April death of Buda resident Steven Wayne Woelfel, was brought back to Hays County from Missouri, where he was arrested on unrelated charges.
