Art classes will be held Monday, Aug. 1, through Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Price Seniors Center, 222 W. San Antonio St., with local artist Veronique Zehnder Hahn instructing.
All proceeds will go to the Price Seniors Center.
The classes will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. each day with a fee of $50 per entrant. Registration may be made calling the Price Seniors Center at 392-2900.
Zehnder Hahn, a Swiss citizen, recently returned from an art exhibit in Switzerland with her daughter Sabine at the Ortmuseum Richterswil-Im Haus Baren on the shores of Lake Zurich.
The focus of the classes will be on the High Renaissance and the works of Raphael (1483-1520), famed for his Madonna paintings, portraits and – in Rome – frescoes. His most famous works are the “Sistine Madonna” (1512) and “The School of Athens” (1509-11).
The art program will focus on history, art history, art interpretation and the culture of the times.
Participants will make a painting of their interpretation of arts interpreted or inspired by Rafael.
