Hays County —
Enhancing mental health services in Central Texas has driven the St. David’s Foundation to invest more than $380,000 in services at the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center in the last five years, center officials said this week.
CEO of the St. David’s Foundation, Earl Maxwell, will speak on “Investing in a Healthy Central Texas” as the keynote address at the HCWC Annual Meeting at the Price Senior Center on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
“St. David’s Foundation is proud to support Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center’s vital services for victims of family violence and sexual assault in our community,” Maxwell said. “Through this Healthy Minds grant, HCWC helps the foundation achieve its vision of keeping the promise of a better life by improving health and health care in Central Texas.”
He said St. David’s Foundation plans to give $27 million to the community this year through grants in six focus areas to numerous agencies, local safety net clinics, and St. David’s Dental Program, a fleet of mobile dental clinics which provide free dental care to children in six school districts.
Prior to joining St. David’s Foundation in 2007, Maxwell’s experience included 31 years in public accounting, including 14 years with Deloitte & Touche and its predecessor Deloitte Haskins & Sells.
He also has served as the leading partner of Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP, Austin’s largest locally-owned and managed accounting and consulting firm.
He grew up in Houston and attended the University of Houston where he received his Bachelor of Business in accounting in 1976.
At Monday’s meeting, HCWC members will vote on board members for the coming year with the following slate proposed: Sarah K. Brandon, Sandra Bryant, Elizabeth Clark, Karen Cochran, Sven Fuhrmann, Katie McVaney, Carolyn Pate, Kimberley Phillips and Olga Robledo.
Additional agenda items will include a presentation of HCWC’s accomplishments achieved over the past year and the Volunteer of the Year Award ceremony.
The list of award winners includes: Cindy McCoy as volunteer of the year, Kathy Rivera, Elizabeth Barnard, Bibb Underwood and Megan Gardner-Bean.
