BURNET...
.A LARGE UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER NORTHERN MEXICO WILL
DRAG SLOWLY EAST ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
NUMEROUS BANDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL ROTATE AROUND
THIS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM...SWEEPING NORTH TO NORTHWEST ACROSS
SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS TODAY THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING. HEAVY RAINFALL
RATES OF 1 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR WILL OCCUR WITHIN SOME OF THESE
CONVECTIVE BANDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THE HEAVIEST RAINS
ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BETWEEN 5 AM THIS MORNING AND 3 PM THIS
AFTERNOON. THE RAINS WILL END FROM WEST TO EAST ON SATURDAY.

ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS TODAY AND THIS EVENING IN ADVANCE OF
THE UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL RATES OF 1
TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR WILL OCCUR WITHIN SOME OF THESE CONVECTIVE
BANDS. HEAVIEST RAINS ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR FROM 5 AM THIS
MORNING THROUGH 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON. WIDESPREAD STORM TOTAL
RAINFALL AMOUNTS FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE FLASH
FLOOD WATCH AREA. ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 6 INCHES
ARE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY OVER AN AREA EXTENDING FROM NEAR
CAMPBELLTON AND CUERO...NORTHWEST TO THE GREATER SAN ANTONIO
METRO AREA.
* SINCE THE VEGETATION IS DORMANT AND THINNER IN JANUARY AND
EVAPORATION IS LESS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS...HEAVY RAINS WILL
RESULT IN MORE RAPID RUNOFF RESULTING IN FLOODING AT LOW WATER
CROSSINGS...IN LOW LYING AREAS...ON SMALL CREEKS AND
STREAMS...AND ON FLOOD PRONE STREETS IN URBAN AREAS. IN
ADDITION...SOME LARGER STREAMS AND RIVERS MAY BECOME FLOODED
LATER TODAY INTO SATURDAY.

Narvaiz won’t seek fourth term
San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz said Wednesday she will not seek re-election to a fourth term in November.
“After months of thought and prayer, I have decided not to seek another term as Mayor of San Marcos,” Narvaiz said in a released statement. “I am incredibly grateful for the support of our community, the dedication of city staff, the hard work by the city council and the great achievements of the past eight and a half years of my service to the city.” -
