Support Our Heroes

Local partners joining together to collect items for troops

San Marcos — Prime Outlets is saying thank you to local heroes by collecting and donating items of need to military personnel in active duty overseas.

During the month of July, donate non-perishable goods and items of need and receive a complimentary VIP Coupon Book, worth hundreds of dollars in savings, Prime Outlets officials said this week.

Present your military, police, firefighter, emergency services personnel or related support staff ID at Guest Services for exclusive savings.



Monday, July 26

Join Prime Outlets at Pluckers Wing Bar in San Marcos on Monday, July 26 for a wing fest benefiting the Local Heroes Campaign.

The first 100 customers to eat at Pluckers will receive a $5 Discover backed Prime Outlets gift card*.  

At 6:30 p.m. Prime Outlets - San Marcos will host a wing eating contest** and the winner will receive a $200 Prime Outlets gift card and a $25 Pluckers gift card.  

Pluckerswill donate 20 percent of food sales (excludes alcohol) to the Support Our Local Heroes campaign.

*Customers will receive a $5 gift card when they make a food purchase of $10 or more.

**Contestants must purchase all you can eat wings for $14.99 to enter the wing eating contest.

Powdered Gatorade, water containers, canned beans, powdered hot chocolate, canned food, Kool-Aid, Slim Jims and Beef Jerky, Crackers, cookies, single-serving bagged chips, Rice Krispie Treats, instant coffee, tea bags, cereal (small boxes), canned pudding, microwave popcorn, granola bars, power bars, raisins dried fruit, tuna (canned), sardines, oatmeal, salsa, lollipops, hard candy, gum, marshmallows, ramen noodles, instant soup (canned), Kraft Easy Mac and canned fruit.



Practical Items

AA Batteries (non-lithium), phone cards, 100 percent cotton socks, Ziploc bags, stress balls, small flashlights, hand warmers, paper and envelopes, pens and pencils, pencil sharpeners, blank greeting cards, journals, magazines, newspapers, paperback books, comic books, puzzles, playing cards, board games, disposable cameras,  Frisbees, hacky sacks, jump ropes, balloons, bandannas, Febreeze, candles, CDs and DVDs, plastic utensils cups and bowls



Personal Items

Baby/wet wipes, razors, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, soap and body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouth wash, dental floss, combs and brushes, nail clippers, Q-tips, deodorant (non-aerosol), eye drops, Chapstick, sun block (non-aerosol), bug spray (non-aerosol), lotion and foot powder

Female Items

Feminine hygiene products, hair bands, hair clips and small mirrors



*The above are approved items under the guidelines of the United States Military. Those items that are not listed will not be donated.
