It’s Texas Archeology Month

— As the Texas summer begins to fade, plan on taking the family to one of the numerous Texas Archeology Month (TAM) events occurring throughout the state in October.

Featuring archeology fairs, demonstrations of native crafts and hands-on activities like mock digs, TAM offers something interest most would-be archeologists.

Sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission (THC), TAM draws thousands of Texans each year to a wide range of educational events, helping promote the historical significance of the state’s archeological sites and highlighting the importance of the contributions made by professional and avocational archeologists.

The THC cosponsors TAM in association with the Texas Archeological Society and the Council of Texas Archeologists. Both a print and electronic version of the calendar of events will be available this month. To request a free copy of the calendar, contact the THC’s Archeology Division at (512) 463-6096 or visit the THC website to download a copy of the calendar.
