Alvarez, Balles
Mr. and Mrs. Jose Sr. and Alicia Alvarez and Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe and Anita Balles of San Marcos are proud to announce the engagement of their children, Becky Alvarez and Juan Jose (JJ) Balles.
Becky graduated from San Marcos High School in 2000 and then went on to graduate from Southern Careers Institute in 2001 with a certification in Computerized Bookkeeping. She is currently employed at Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos.
JJ is also a graduate from San Marcos High School class of 1999 and is currently employed with Internet Tech Services as a Lead Supervisor in San Marcos.
Becky is the granddaughter of the late Isidro and Virginia Alvarez of Robstown, TX, and the late Mariano and Estella Hernandez of San Marcos.
JJ is the grandson of Manuela Balles and the late Guadalupe Balles Sr. of San Marcos and the late Raul Rodriguez Sr. and the late Augustina Rodriguez of Kyle.
The couple will marry April 24, 2010 at St. John’s Catholic Church, and will reside in San Marcos.

All-State Musicians: Whitbeck, Applewhite earn spots
San Marcos High School students Katy Whitbeck and Dwaylan Applewhite were selected for the All-State Choir, and Sam Heaton was named Second Alternate to the Men's All-State Choir.
