No one in the office at Bowie Elementary on Thursday could say just how long the school has been staging its annual “Six Flags Over Bowie” event — but the consensus was it goes back a generation or so, around 20 years.

That means some of the parents of today’s Bowie students were part of the experience as students themselves.
