Victor W. Terry

Victor W. Terry, born on June 20, 1934, died on April 5, 2008.

He met and married his surviving wife, Shirley, in 1964 when they were both naval officers.

Vic graduated from Abilene High School and North Texas State College before receiving an MBA from Stanford University.

Twenty years later Vic retired as a Navy Commander after the conclusion of the Vietnam War. He then worked as a financial consultant for Booz, Allen, Hamilton and taught some business classes at Southwest Texas State College.

Vic was the Director of Elections and later the Director of Finance for the Texas Secretary of State during Governor Clements’ administration. He then briefly served as the Executive Director of the state Republican Party.

His many friends, strangers in need and many stray animals will remember him for the help he gave in the worst of times. Friends will also remember his lighter side in the best of times with his love of travel, opera, drama and dinner clubs. He loved being a member of the Mayfair Dance Club and the Lords and Ladies Dance Club in Austin.

Vic would want people to know how impressed he and Shirley were with the expertise and compassion received at Central Texas Medical Center.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Arlington National Cemetery.

Any lung cancer research facility would be grateful for any donations.

Arrangements under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 North Comanche, San Marcos, TX, 78666, 353-4311.
