Sunny Currey Smith, 56, of Crockett, passed away at her residence on Friday, April 18, 2008.
Sunny was born July 17, 1951 in Crockett and graduated from Crockett High School where she was a cheerleader. She graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business, and then attended Texas A&M University receiving a degree in horticulture.
Sunny was involved in several businesses including Bloomer’s, where she shared her love for flowers and giving gardening advice. Sunny was a free spirit who was an expert quilter, painter and truly loved gardening. She especially loved traveling with her daughter, Hannah, just returning from a wonderful trip to Disney World in Florida.
Survivors include: daughter Hannah Slack of Crockeett; special cousin Donnie Driskell and wife Wendy of Johnson City; aunt Bert McLean of Crockett; cousin Jimmy McLean of Crockett; and her beloved companions Skip, Susie and Zoey.
Preceeding in death were pareants Donn and Maxine Currey; brother, Tim Currey; and grandparents Jake and Anny Currey and J.O.and Estelle McLean.
Graveside services for Sunny McLean Currey will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 in Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Reggie Gregory officiating. Interment will follow.
Family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made of Cal Farley Boy’s Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas, 79174-0001.
