James Douglas Smith

James Douglas Smith born June 18, 1925 in Carlsbad, N.M., passed away Sunday April 20 2008 at the age of 82 years.
He served in World War II as a Navy Torpedoman 2nd Class from 1943 to 1946. After the Navy he drilled oil wells in Wichita Falls and throughout South Texas.
He was a Mason and held several posts in the Zapata Texas Masonic Lodge, He loved camping, traveling, fishing and outdoor activities with family and friends.
Dad never met a person that did not become a good friend. We love you and will miss you.
James Douglas Smith is survived by his wife, Dawn L. Smith; three sons, James Douglas Smith Jr., Ronald Kent Smith and, Orin Colton Smith; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren, numerous other family members and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
