Bruce Oquannah Watson was born on April 30, 1925 to Clyde Watson and Anna Belle Martin Watson in Moran, Texas.
At the age of 16 years, Bruce voluntarily enlisted in the U. S. Navy to serve in World War II from 1941 through 1946, and again volunteered and served in the U. S. Navy for the Korean Campaign from 1950 through 1951.
Bruce married D. Ann Hubbs in 1956, and they welcomed their only child, J. Lynn Watson, in 1966.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann Watson, who resides in the couple's San Marcos home, and by their daughter, Lynn Watson of Austin. Bruce is also survived by his brother, William Donald Watson Stoner of Early and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. Bruce was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the American Legion.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 9 in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Rev. Gary Smith will officiate.
