Jose “Joe” Rangel

Jose “Joe” Rangel, of San Marcos, went peacefully to his eternal rest and was escorted by the Angels to be with our Heavenly Father on May 17, 2008 at the age of 45.

Born May 4, 1963 in San Marcos, a beloved son, brother, grandson and uncle, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Pablo Sr. and Francisca Rangel and grandfather Casimiro Rodriguez.

Survivors are parents Daniel and Maria Rangel of San Marcos; brothers Andrew Rangel Sr. and David Rangel of San Marcos; sisters Terry R. Garcia of San Marcos, Linda R. Calvin of Irving, Alice Rangel of San Marcos and Anita Rangel of San Marcos; grandmother Cipriana Rodriguez of San Marcos; nephews Joshua Olmos, Reggie Jr. and Jermaine Calvin, Matthew Hernandez, Joseph Garcia, A.J. Rangel and Jon Michael Reyna; nieces Naomi Calvin, Marissa Garcia, Madison Hernandez, Anissa Rangel and Danelle Gonzalez; grandchildren Alec Lucio, Jesse Gonzales, Christopher and wife Rebecca, and Dominique, Danielle, Alexis, Isaiah, Seth and Noah Tovar.

Visitation will be held today from 2 to 7:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos. Recitation of Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Los Angeles Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. May 21 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Rev. Father Larry Stehling will officiate. Internment will follow in Memory Lawn Memory Park in Martindale. Deacon Lalo Duran will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Rangel Sr., Andrew Rangel Jr., Joshua Olmos, Jermaine Calvin, Reggie Calvin Jr., Matthew Hernandez and Joseph Garcia.
