Leonard Peterson
Leonard Peterson of Maxwell passed away June 16, 2009 at the age of 78. He was born Nov. 6, 1930 in Mason to parents Pete and Mary (Betancourt) Munoz.
Leonard attended school in Little Rock, Ark. and served his country in the US Navy from 1947 to 1950 and served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1957.
He was a member of the Plumbers Union in Tucson, Ariz. and retired in 1985. He moved to Maxwell in 1995 and became a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Leonard was also a member of the Masonic Center of San Marcos Masonic Lodge #342, the Scottish Rite and was a Shriner from Sabbar Temple of Tucson, Ariz.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and seven brothers. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jean of Maxwell, his sister, Rose Marie Taylor of North Little Rock, Ark., step sons, Scott and Robert Butler of Willmington, NC, sister-in-law, Mary Jo Almond of Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Kenneth, Jaime and James Taylor, who were very helpful in taking care of Leonard and Gloria and Charles Gordon for their daily vigilance.
The Peterson and Taylor families wish to express their utmost thanks and appreciation to CTMC Hospice. Their care, support and love expressed to Leonard and his family was outstanding and immeasurable. Special thanks to Ann, Kim, Alicia, Valinda and Roger.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Maxwell. Services will be in conjunction with regular morning services. Presentation of the United States flag by the US Air Force will follow the services at 12:30 p.m. at the fellowship hall.
