John William Morrisset
John William Morrisset passed into the arms of God on July 13, 2008. Born Oct. 23, 1931 in Lubbock to J.B. and Anita Green Morrisset, John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a Purple Heart recipient, a successful local businessman and was recognized as a leader in community service activities in San Marcos.
John graduated from Texas Tech University in May 1960.
His parents preceded him in death. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Morrisset; daughter Louise Rugaard and husband Karl of Houston and their children Karen and Jason Amacker of Austin, Christopher and Jodi Rugaard of Bay City, and Matthew Rugaard of Austin, daughter, Nancy Morrisset of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and daughter, Brenda Holcomb and husband, Mike of Seguin and their children Victoria Holcomb, Rebecca Holcomb and Allison Hines; two brothers, M. Wendell and Leslie M. Morrisset of California and their families.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos, with the Rev. Dr. Jenna Heart officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, at 1:15 p.m. in San Antonio.
