Pete ‘Bole’ Alvarez

Pete “Bole” Alvarez, 63, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Nov. 5, 2009 with his family by his side.

He was born Oct. 14, 1946 in San Marcos to Pedro Alvarez and Petra Rodriguez Alvarez.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Willie Alvarez.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Isabel “Chavela” Alvarez; his sons Jimmy (Christina) Alvarez, James Alvarez and Anthony (Jennifer) Alvarez, daughters Patricia Knudsen, Lisa (Johnny) Urrutia and Norma (Carlos) Calderon, and his 15 grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy Alvarez, Joey Rodriguez, Christopher, Nicholas and Bryan Knudsen, Justin, Johnny Jr. and Elizabeth Urrutia, Chloe and Felicity Calderon, Victoria Alvarez, Jeremiah and Serenity and Seth Alvarez. He is also survived by his brothers Henry (Janie) Alvarez and Manuel (Janie) Alvarez and sisters, Delia (Abel) Hurtado, Ostolia (Peter) Villarreal of San Marcos and Amelia (Nico) Rodriguez and Rebecca Rios from California. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bole worked for Chuck Nash as a mechanic for 17 years and was a machinist with Chatliff Controls in Buda for 25 years. You could always find Bole sitting in his front yard in his green chair or in his living room with a cold drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Bole was a good man and will be greatly missed by all.

Pallbearers will be nephews Eddie Hurtado, Steven Hurtado, Henry Alvarez, Jr., David Castaneda, Eloy Castaneda, Jr. and Rene Pinales. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Oscar Alvarez and Jeffrey Delgado.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 5 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Ranch Road 12. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in Reedville. Fr. Larry Stehling will officiate.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Thomason Funeral Home, 396-2300. Sign our guest register at www.thomasonfuneralhome.com.
