Domingo G. Hernandez


Domingo G. Hernandez, 68, of San Marcos, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26 in Kyle.

Hernandez was born in Lockhart to Sixto and Hermelinda Gonzalez Hernandez and was raised in San Marcos by his grandparents Gavino and San Juanita Hernandez.

He owned and operated the El Patio Café in San Marcos for many years where he sponsored a local baseball team, the San Marcos Rebels, as well as numerous pool and billiard teams.

After retirement, his hobbies included selling cascarrones and fireworks and being a vendor at local fiestas. He loved and enjoyed his family and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Hernandez is survived by his mother Hermelinda Gonzalez of Lytton Springs; aunt Vicenta Hernandez-Ruiz, his ex-wife, Margarita Hernandez and their children, Janie Hernandez and Johnny Hernandez, all of San Marcos; his wife Cindy Ramirez and their children Jennifer Ramirez (Anthony Alvarez), Andrew Ramirez, Erica Hernandez (Johnny Lira), Salena Hernandez and Angela Hernandez, all of San Marcos; his brothers, Crespin (Sulema) Hernandez of San Marcos, Paul (Donna) Hernandez of Las Vegas, Nev., Jesse Gonzalez of Austin and Rueben Benitez of Lytton Springs; his sisters Frances Degollado, Gloria Rendon, Josie Degollado, Linda Martinez, Stella Hernandez and San Juanita Hernandez, all of Austin, and Hermelinda Gonzales of Laredo; his grandchildren, Jazmene, Danielle, Janelle, Gavin, Mariah, Jeremiah, Serenity, Seth and Ashton and great-grandson Aven; his extended family, Robert Gaitan, Amanda Molina, Rosie Gaitan, Betty Padilla, Natalie Gaitan and Rudy Gaitan.

Friends may call on the family today at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 R.R. 12 in San Marcos from 2-6 p.m. A 7 p.m. recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at St. John's Catholic Church in San Marcos.

Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 30 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church.
