Carl Weldon Anderson

San Marcos — Carl Weldon Anderson died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 at the age of 77.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eric and Ethel Anderson, his sister Doris Anderson and his aunts Bessie and Hazel Bergstrom.

He was a resident of San Marcos for the past 41 years. He was born and raised in Austin, where he earned a B.A. degree from the University of Texas.

Carl was involved in the education of others throughout his life. He was part of the team that opened Gary Job Corps Center in 1965. He went on to serve as the executive director of the Texas Educational Foundation and retired in 1996.

Carl was a dedicated member of Rotary International. He recently celebrated 34 years of perfect Rotary attendance, was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Past District 5840 Governor, formerly known as District 584.

Those fortunate to have known Carl or have had their lives impacted by him, have used the same words to describe him: kind, gentlemanly, thoughtful, generous, dependable, humorous, wise and loving. But above all, he was completely devoted to his wife Lunelle A. Anderson. They were a true team, known well to their dozens of San Marcos friends.

Throughout almost 51 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling the world, their TAS outings, playing bridge and their family roles as Granny Lu and Pa Carlos.

Other survivors include daughter Cheryl White; grandson Carlton Kincaid and wife Dana, grandson Eric Kincaid, grandson Phillip Kincaid and wife Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Alicia, Carlton Jr., Cassidy and Wesley Kincaid.

The viewing will be Thursday at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and the Celebration Service will be at First United Methodist Church, San Marcos on Friday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow in the San Marcos Cemetery.

Box 946, Dauphin Island, Ala. 36528, Dauphin Island Methodist Church, 302 Key Street, Dauphin Island, Ala. 36528, or the Texas State University Parents Association, Texas State University, 601 University Drive, San Marcos, TX 78666.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 North Comanche, San Marcos, TX 78666, 353-4311.
