Marc Stephen Marney

Marc Stephen Marney died peacefully at home on Jan. 31, 2010, with family at his side at the age of 58.

Marc was born Aug. 1, 1951 in San Marcos to Janie Belle and Houston Marney Jr.

He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in business and was active in sports and band throughout his school years.

He was looking forward to retirement at USAA after 27 years of service.

Marc is survived by his wife Fran McLaughlin Marney; his mother Janie Belle Marney of San Marcos; his children Matthew Marney of Boerne, Fara Smith and her husband Martin Smith of Roanoke, Va., Ryan Marney of Kenedy,  Kathleen Velasquez and her husband Pete Velasquez of San Antonio, his sister Pam Noland and her husband Richard P. Noland of Austin. He is also survived by three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a wonderful USAA family.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Evers Road Christian Church.

Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at the Evers Road Christian Church, 5258 Evers Road in San Antonio. 

Interment will follow in San Marcos City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 8115 Datapoint, San Antonio, TX 78229 or to a charity of choice.
