Connie Hanson Skiles

San Marcos — Connie was taken by our Lord on Feb. 3, 2010 after a fight with ALS. Connie was born March 20, 1954, to Genevieve (Cookie) Makovy and James T. Hanson in Alice.

She married the love of her life, Rick Skiles, on June 2, 1973 and moved to San Marcos.

Connie was very active in the San Marcos community. She volunteered with Hays County Food Bank serving as President of the board in 2005 and 2006, Main Street Board, Chamber of Commerce Board, EDC Board, and the League of Women Voters.

Connie enjoyed gardening and cooking, making wonderful creations we all enjoyed. She was a great baker and if  you were on her Christmas list, you would be able to attest to that. She worked in the family business and raised two fine children. Connie was a thoughtful caring person and loved her family and friends very much. She was preceded in death by her mother Cookie Hill and her sister Susan Cosper.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Rick, her beloved children, son Ian Skiles, his wife Holly and daughter Sidera of San Marcos and her daughter and friend Carly Skiles of San Marcos, her father J.T. Hanson and his wife Hattie of Flint, her brother Jim Hanson and his wonderful wife Anne of New Braunfels and her sister Beverly Hanson Reid and husband Vance of San Antonio. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, and loved friends.

In lieu of flowers Connie asked for donations to the Hays County Food Bank. A memorial service will be at San Marcos Community Church on Friday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m.
