Sharon Kaye Sparks Erickson Guimont

Sharon Kaye Sparks Erickson Guimont passed away in San Marcos on Jan. 15, 2010 after a short but brave battle with cancer.

She was born in Brackettville on Nov. 11, 1943, the only child of Howard and Vikie (Fritsche) Sparks.

She was raised in San Marcos, where her parents owned and operated a general store.

She married her high school sweetheart, David Erickson, who sadly was killed in a car accident in 1976 in Virginia, where they had been transferred.

They had three children, Glenn, Steve and Karen, all of San Marcos.

She was fortunate to be blessed with another love, James Guimont, and they were married for 23 years until his death in 2001. She moved back to the Austin area in 2004 to be near her family, much to their delight.

She had a business degree from St. Mary's College in Maryland, and worked as an accountant for IBM for more than 20 years. She was a lover of music, travel and the great outdoors.

She is survived by her son Glenn Erickson and his girlfriend Genette Hofmann, her son Steve Erickson and his wife Lori Vaughn and family, Buddy Beth and Brandon Vaughn of Dallas, and Travis, Meghan, Aaliyah and Hunter Motloch of Austin, her daughter Karen Erickson Glover and husband Dusty Glover and their children Sam and Eli, a step-daughter, Mary Guimont of Washington; and her last precious love and lifelong friend, Tommy Cone of San Marcos.

She will be dearly missed by all. A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. at Solid Rock Church in San Marcos.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.goodnightandsnell.com.

Arrangements by Goodnight & Snell Funeral Directors.
