Arlene Jewel Lann

Arlene Jewel Lann, 88, a resident of San Marcos for 48 years, passed away in San Marcos on Saturday, July 26, 2008. She was born on Sept. 23, 1919 in Jacksboro to Grayson and Ethel (McDowell) Wills.

Mrs. Lann and her husband, L.J. moved to San Marcos in 1958 where she finished her education at Southwest Texas State University and taught there until her retirement in January 1982. After retirement, she and her husband traveled all 50 states and to several foreign countries.

She is preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Lann who passed away in June 2002 and a sister, Leota Moore.

She is survived by a niece, Mary Katherine Gregory and husband, Donald W. Gregory, Sr. of St. Joseph, La.; great nephews, Greg Gregory and wife, Kerry of Winnsboro, La., Tim Gregory and wife, Necci of St. Joseph, La. and Darryl Gregory and wife, Brenda of Monroe, La.; great-nieces, Laura Scribber and husband, Mike of Ruston, La. and Donna K. Thompson and husband, Tommy of Monroe, La.

For those desiring, contributions in memory of Mrs. Arlene Lann may be made to the charity of choice.

Graveside services were held today at Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche, San Marcos, 353-4311.
