Martha Cozaree ‘Cozy’ Shields

Martha Cozaree “Cozy” Shields of New Braunfels, loved and cherished daughter, wife, mother and granny, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the age of 84. She was born in Loraine to the late A.E. and Ethel (Forsyth) Walker on Aug. 10, 1924.

Her husband Mayron Shields preceded her in death in 1999. They were married in San Angelo on March 10, 1949. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Buffington and husband, LaRoy of Devine and granddaughter Leslie Jo Greebon and husband, Trent of Devine.

“Cozy” graduated, with honors, from Sul Ross University with a BBA and worked at Gary Job Corps. for 12 years.

She loved to bowl and was a member of the University Ladies Bowling League and a member of the art league. She also enjoyed traveling.

A member of the First Christian Church, she was very active in the Christian Women's Fellowship.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 in the Pennington Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. David Green officiating. Private interment will be in the San Marcos Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 3105 R.R. 12, San Marcos, Tx. 78666-2490.
