Fran Anderson

Fran Anderson is being remembered for her love of family, dedication to church, and her fun-loving spirit. Fran loved to celebrate and often she was known to pull paper chains from her mouth while playing the kazoo.

She was born Oct. 2, 1925 and passed away June 5, 2009.

Mary Frances “Fran” Anderson was born in Santa Rosa to Charles Dee and Della Richardson. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1943 and then enrolled at Texas A&I; College in Kingsville. She taught school during the long terms in order to put herself through school.

On July 19, 1947 she married Robert Anderson and they had a full life together, spending much time traveling in their RV.

Fran earned her teaching degree, and she taught in several school districts in Texas for 26 years until retiring from teaching at de Zavala Elementary School in San Marcos.

Church work was very important to Fran. She was actively involved in all aspects of the Women of the Church.

Fran was also involved in many volunteer activities including Tourist Information, Heritage Association of San Marcos, Meals on Wheels, Texas Natural, Doll House of San Marcos and home tours of San Marcos; and, she got great pleasure serving as Mrs. Claus in San Marcos and Kyle.

Bob and Fran spent many hours square dancing with the Wheels n' Deals Square Dance Club and developed many long lasting friendships among this group.

Preceding Fran in death were her parents and siblings, Ralph, Scott, Phil and James Richardson, Dessie Health and Dorothy Ware.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bob; children, Jan and John Redden, Charles and Kathy Anderson and Della and Kurt Kunimune. Grandchildren include Brent Redden, Kaitlyn and Samantha Anderson and Justin and Mari Kunimune.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home today from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15 at First Lutheran Church of San Marcos, with the Rev. Arden Dorn officiating. Interment will follow in the San Marcos Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations many be made to a charity of your choice.
