Calvin Cowan

Calvin Cowan, a lifelong resident of San Marcos, passed away June 22, 2009 at the age of 79.

He was born Feb. 10, 1930 in San Marcos to Tom Charles and Lottie Cowan. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army and married his wife Helen Hook Cowan July 26, 1955 in New Braunfels.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen and survived by two sons, Ricky Cowan of Buda and Jody Cowan of Lockhart; one grandson, Dustin Ray Cowan and his wife Lauren; one great grandson, Emmitt Cowan; one brother, Cecil Cowan of San Marcos; sisters, Dorothy Jean Laidley and husband C. C. of San Marcos; Barbara Stigall and husband Charlie of Seguin; “Dinkey” Margie Karuse and husband “Shorty” of Canyon Lake; sister-in-law, Carol Cowan of San Marcos.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Ranch Road 12.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 26 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in San Marcos Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Rev. Jeff Latham.

The family would like to thank the staff at Satellite Dialysis for their kindness and care of their father.
