Doris Rodriguez

Doris Rodriguez, 57, died Oct. 18, 2009, with her entire family by her side and surrounding her in love.

She was born July 17, 1952, in Fentress, to Pauline M. and Adolfo Villanueva.

Doris was married to Richard Rodriguez for 40 years.  She was a grandmother like no other. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their sporting and school events. She was very proud of each and every one of her children and grandchildren and would brag about them at any chance she was given.

Doris enjoyed her life to the fullest and fortunately had the ability to travel out and around the country and see many parts of the United States while on vacations.  She was an avid Dallas Cowboy and New York Yankee fan.  Doris also enjoyed cooking large meals for her family and having her family gather together to eat and share time with one another.  She has been the cornerstone of her family, always encouraging her family to be the very best in all that they would do and was there to cheer them on every step of the way.

Doris was an employee of SMCISD for 26 years, most of her time spent at DeZaVala Elementary.  She was beloved by staff and students alike.  Doris cared deeply for the students at DeZaVala and would encourage them all to be the best they could be and to always have smiles on their faces.  The teachers and staff were truly a second family to her and Doris felt privileged to work alongside them.

Doris was an active member of La Socieded de Cuauhtemoc and volunteered many service hours with this organization.  The members of La Sociedad held a very special place in her heart and were true lifelong friends.

Doris touched the lives of many people. She had a caring, compassionate and giving heart. She would go without many times so that others could have more. No one knew this better than her husband of 40 years, Richard Rodriguez.  Doris was devoted to Richard through good times and bad, very seldom was one seen without the other. They were a loving couple and role models for others.

Doris is survived by her parents Adolfo and Pauline Villanueva; Brothers- David (April) Villanueva; Fred (Elvia) Villanueva; Rudy Villanueva; Eddie (Gloria) Villanueva; Bobby Joe (Rosa) Villanueva; Sisters - Bea (Carlos) Medrano; Gloria (Pete) Sierra; Betty (Danny) Alejandro; Husband- Richard Rodriguez; Children – David and Linda Rodriguez; Brenda and Simon Sambrano; Richard and Margie Rodriguez ; Grandchildren- Jessica Sambrano; Simon Joey Sambrano; Larisa Rodriguez; R.J. Rodriguez and Jacob Matthew Rodriguez.

Doris was preceded in death by her grandson, David Jacob ‘DJ’ Rodriguez, who along with Our Heavenly Father came to escort her home to rest.

Arrangements entrusted to the Villasenor Family - Los Angeles Funeral Home.  300 Cheatham St., San Marcos, 392-3676.
