Guadalupe (Lupe) Montana

Guadalupe (Lupe) Montana of Prairie Lea went to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 14, 2009 at the age of 80. She was born July 11, 1929 in Waelder to Encarnasion and Juanita (Trejo) Gonzales.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim Montana, two brothers, Simon and Gonzalo Gonzales; a sister, Gloria Rodriguez and two grandsons.

She is survived by six sons, Joe Montana (Anita) of Dumas, Jimmy Montana and Robert Montana of Salina, Kan., Rick Montana (Karen) of Amarillo, Bob Montana (Simona) of San Marcos and Manuel Montana (Janie) of Prairie Lea; three daughters, Olivia Martinez (Santos) of Salina, Kan., Lydia Gonzales (Chris) of Fentress and Mollie Paredes of Salina, Kan., a brother Raul Gonzales of Prairie Lea, three sisters, Gala Sanez of Redwood, Cheva Gonzalez of Baytown and Manuela Gonzales of Prairie Lea; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Montana was involved with community elections and fundraisers. She loved spending time with her family, sewing, arts and crafts, cooking and caring for her plants and roses.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16 at Pennington Funeral Home.

Mass was held this morning at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale.

Burial followed in San Juan Cemetery in Prairie Lea.
