Art smart? This is for you
— Though art is often personal, independent and in some ways mysterious for those of us lacking the necessary painting or sculpting skill sets, it does not happen in a vacuum.
Despite the concept of the starving artist, communities which successfully encourage artistic endeavors quite often do so with a bit of funding.
Few will disagree that art is indeed in the eye of the beholder, so it makes sense that the San Marcos Arts Commission needs a bit of help in deciding which art projects merit public funding assistance.
Peer review panelists are being sought to “read funding applications, participate in a public review session and score each applicant based on a set of pre-established criteria.”
A challenging task if there ever was one.
But for those knowledgeable in the field and interested in helping to bring local artistic expression to life, this is your chance to make San Marcos an even more beautiful place to live. RHR
