As one season ended for San Marcos, another practically just began.
Through 32 regular-season games — and more importantly, 10 district tilts — the Rattlers battled for a spot in the Class 5A postseason. Only four teams out of San Marcos’ tough district could make the playoffs, so Bryan Webb’s team couldn’t afford too many letdowns.
When the Rattlers beat New Braunfels-Canyon last Friday, it assured them at least the second seed in District 25-5A. That would mean San Marcos, as the second seed, would face whichever team finished third in District 26-5A, one that hadn’t been kind to the school in the past.
