The Hays High baseball team’s postseason run came to an end last weekend, as Kerrville-Tivy completed a two-game sweep Saturday, rallying back from a five-run deficit to claim a 7-5 win at Blossom Stadium.
The Rebels (19-15) took a 3-0 lead after Nick DeSantiago crushed a three-run home run. Clayton Rogers and Ryan Slaughter walked and DeSantiago mashed the two-out pitch over the left-field wall.
The Antlers (19-8) got five runs back after they began to hit Rogers, the Hays starter, hard. Rogers allowed four consecutive hits, including run-scoring doubles from Lucas Vick and Harrison Holley. Michael Rice launched a two-run home run quickly after the doubles to chase Rogers.
Vick, who hit a grand slam in Thursday’s first game, finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs. He took the ball in the seventh to retire the Rebels in order, and end their season.
