Local bodybuilders and weightlifters competed in several meets in November. The competitors, who train at the San Marcos Athletic Club, swept the slate clean in both events.
Four athletes competed at the Lackland Bodybuilding and Figure Championship in early November.
Renae Elrod (top, left) placed first in the women’s open bodybuilding, masters division.
Olivia Burgess (top, second from right) placed second in women’s figure.
Joe Lucio (top, far right) placed took home second in the men’s bodybuilding masters, for men 60-years-old and older.
Ten athletes competed at the USAPL Longhorn Open Powerlifting Championships on Nov. 15 and nine took home gold medals.

Jason Berger (bottom, top row, second from left) placed first in the 198 lb. open.

Chris Martinez (bottom, top row, far right) placed third in the 220 lb. open, but won the 220 lb. open, bench only, while setting a state record.

Ryan Cerda (bottom, middle) placed first in the 148 lb. raw teen event.
