San Marcos — There’s no rest for the weary — or the San Marcos Rattlers — as they gear up for their next non-district clash.
Four days after completing play in the Brenham tournament, San Marcos hosts Cibolo-Steele. The Knights are expected to make a run to the postseason out of District 27-4A.
“We made this schedule so we’d be ready come district,” SMHS head coach Bryan Webb said. “It was a tough tournament for us and we will only get better from it and face Steele Tuesday night.”
The Rattlers didn’t fare too well at the Brenham tournament. San Marcos went 1-3 and were outscored 40-21.
If there was good news out of the tournament, it was the Rattlers brought out their bats. San Marcos belted six home runs with Blake Bagley going to deep three times, Jeremy Gonzales crushing two and EJ Alva taking one over the fence.
After dueling with Steele, the Rattlers head to the Austin ISD tournament this weekend along with Hays and Lehman.
Tonight’s game is schedulled to begin at 7 p.m.
