High School Soccer: SMA lands eight on all-district team

San Marcos — Eight San Marcos Academy Bear soccer players were named to the All-District teams in TAPPS Division II-District 3. The group includes (front) Kevin Walker, honorable mention; Trey Banks, first team; Calvin Kim, second team; Yestin Liu, honorable mention; Ignacio “Nacho” Navarro, first team; Memo Borrego, first team; (back) Roberto Moreira, honorable mention and Darby Rollins, who was named first team and District MVP. As goalie, Rollins had 13.5 saves per game for a save percentage of 0.09. He helped lead the Bears to an 11-6-3 season that ended with a bi-district playoff match against Tomball Concordia Lutheran, a team that made it to the state final four. The leading scorer for the Bears was Navarro with 13 goals on the season. Scott Moore was the Bears’ head coach. (SMA Photo)
