Del Valle — Perhaps the San Marcos Lady Rattlers didn’t post as many runs as one might expect with 10 hits and four Del Valle errors.
Still, the three runs the Lady Rattlers plated was enough to lift SMHS to a 3-1 in both team’s District 17-4A opener Tuesday night.
San Marcos went on top with a run in the top of the second inning and then took a 3-0 lead with pair in the third.
SMHS pitcher Amanda Villalpando went the distance on the mound, shutting out the Lady Cardinals in every inning but the sixth. She gave up only four hits in the game
San Marcos is back in action Thursday when the team begins play in its own SMHS Rattler Spring Break Classic. SMHS returns to district play Friday with a 7 p.m. home game against Elgin.
