San Marcos —
After dropping pair of games on Saturday at the Seguin Invitational, the San Marcos High School volleyball team will try to get back on track tonight when the Lady Rattlers host New Braunfels-Canyon for a 6:30 p.m. game at The Snake Pit.
After going 3-0 in pool play on Friday with wins over Beeville-Jones, San Antonio-Marshall and San Antonio-Southwest, the Lady Rattlers struggled in bracket play, losing to host Seguin (2-0) and SA-Warren (2-1).
Maggie Breed and Jordan Carswell led the team with five kills each against Seguin, while Carswell and Birdie Schneider served up three aces each.
Ali Gonzales guided the team with 11 assists against Seguin, while Allie Bryant paced the defense with nine digs.
Carswell paced the Lady Rattlers’ attack against Warren with seven kills while Breed and Madelyn Swinney each had four kills.
Carswell also came through with four aces and 11 assists against Warren. Lizzie Brown was the top defensive player with 12 digs in the game.
Canyon enters tonight’s game with an 11-12 record overall and is coming off a 2-0 loss to Incarnate Word last weekend at the Seguin Tournament.
Also on the line tonight for the Lady Rattlers (9-7) is a two-game home win streak. After opening the season with nine games on the road, San Marcos came back home to beat Austin-Crockett and Bastrop. SMHS has just dropped one set at home so far this season.

Lehman will try to make it 4-0 at home tonight when the Lady Lobos host Austin-Akins for a 6 p.m. game. Hays will try to get a road at Class 3A Navarro, Wimberley visits Leander Rouse and San Marcos Academy is at Waldorf.
