Kyle — For the second consecutive season, Lehman has won its season opener. The Lobos overcame a sloppy performance to beat Riesel 24-6 at Shelton Stadium.
Lehman looked like a team playing its first game Thursday night. The Lobos committed 16 penalties for 142 yards, including several personal foul and late hit calls.
Yet, Lehman was able to overcome it all, thanks to John Martell.
The senior wide receiver turned into a running back against the Indians, carrying the ball 17 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. His second touchdown put the Lobos up17-6 with 1:07 left in the third quarter.
Lehman also got scores from Kevin Ibanez on a 13-yard touchdown catch. Cory Bergstrom added a 27-yard field goal to go along with three extra points.
