Arlington — Texas State’s Mo Middleton tied her career-high in kills to lead the Bobcat volleyball team a 3-0 win at UT Arlington Tuesday night.
Middleton racked up 18 kills (.471) and five digs, while Jessica Weynand added 13 kills and 13 digs for a double-double.
Texas State got into the groove after its third point. The Bobcats went on a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 20-9. UTA's Tara Frantz ended the Bobcats’ run, but it wasn't enough as Texas State ran away with the set 25-12.
Set two went 41-39 in a remarkable rally between both teams, with Texas State coming out on top. The set went into extra points as Middleton and Weynand were able to end the set on back-to-back kills for the Bobcats. The 41-39 set broke the school record for the most points in a set for Texas State.
The Bobcats (15-12, 9-3 SLC) jumped to a 15-12 lead in the third set, forcing UTA to take a timeout to slow things down. Middleton scored the last two points of the match to give State the set and win.
Texas State hosts Lamar Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and will play their last home game Saturday at 4 p.m. against first-place Sam Houston State.
