Men’s College Basketball: Texas State men enter a busy, competitive stretch of schedule


The Texas State men’s basketball team will play three games in a span of four days starting this weekend, as the Bobcats visit New Orleans for 2 p.m. game Saturday.

Following the game at New Orleans, the Bobcats will venture to Fort Worth to participate in the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Tip-off against Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Texas Christian. Both games will be at TCU’s Daniel Meyer Coliseum.

The Bobcats will play the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and will face TCU at 8 p.m. Tuesday

The Bobcats dropped both of its games against Arizona State and Cal State-Northridge in the West Regional of the Dick's Sporting Goods Tipoff Classic at Tempe, Ariz.

Texas State opened the 2009-10 season with a 102-67 victory over Howard Payne last Friday, Nov. 13 in Strahan Coliseum.

Milwaukee enters the consolation round with a 1-2 record after dropping both of its first two NIT games in Baton Rouge, La., earlier this week against Western Kentucky (69-65) and Indiana State (76-63).

The Panthers opened the season with an 89-73 victory over Concordia-St. Paul on Nov. 13.

Texas State (1-2) dropped two games at the West Regional of the NIT in Tempe, Ariz., falling to the hosts from Arizona State, 84-62, before Cal State Northridge beat them, 85-82.

TCU split its two games in the West Regional as the Horned Frogs defeated Cal State-Northridge 83-65 in the first round before falling 53-49 against Arizona State in finals.

Colgate (0-2) put up quite a fight against nationally-ranked Connecticut in the NIT East Regional before falling, 77-63. The Red Raiders then dropped a 65-55 decision to Yale.
