San Marcos —
After nearly two decades, San Marcos High School is sending a boys soccer team into the UIL playoffs.
The Rattlers secured their playoff spot with a 4-0 win over Wimberley last weekend.
Knowing a playoff berth was on the line, the Rattlers came out strong and never let up.
Seniors Jeremy Cobb and Andres Diocares had the team energized and ready for the win.
David Fernandez scored San Marcos’ first goal, followed by goals from Bob Eric Rodriguez, Francisco Sanchez and Mark Jaimes. The defensive line of Cobb, Logan Smith, Kolton Sundquist and Sterling Gutierrez played stellar defense, denying any Wimberley scoring opportunities
The Rattlers receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs, and will play Lake Travis in a Class 4A Area game either Monday or Tuesday at a site and time to be determined. A win would put the Rattlers in the sectional, scheduled for March 25-27.
