San Antonio Taft running back Justin Stevenson’s dominant performance against San Marcos last Friday began on their first offensive play when he sped 65 yards past the Rattler defense.

San Marcos’ disappointing defensive start was the result of players out of position. But it wouldn’t be the only misalignment against Taft, nor would it be the last time Stevenson punished San Marcos for its mistakes. The Rattler coaches recorded nine misalignments Friday and Stevenson racked up 322 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

College Football: Texas State welcomes No. 6 Houston for home opener

Usually when players and coaches say a game is more about “themselves” rather than their opponent, it’s a euphemism for saying that they have more to work on internally as a team.

This week however, Texas State (1-1) might actually be better served focusing on themselves in preparation for its home opener against No. 6 Houston (3-0). The teams aren’t billed too drastically different.

Okay backup. They’re not too drastically different in theory.

Offensive Coordinator Brett Elliott:

Looking back at Arkansas:

“The minuses were that we didn’t stay on the field and we put our defense in a horrible positon. I thought (Arkansas) played really well and it’s tough to hang against that team. We didn’t execute very well all the way around at every position.”
