Two weekend incidents lead to multiple arrests

Two separate incidents resulted in multiple felony arrests over the weekend. 

The San Marcos Police Department arrested one person for aggravated assault at I Don’t Know Bar on Saturday, and four individuals at an incident at The Village on Telluride early Sunday morning.

“Huge thanks to our officers for their hard work and diligent efforts to solve these crimes and keep our community safe,” Chief Stan Standridge said in a statement. 

SMPD said officers were dispatched to I Don’t Know Bar — 650 E. Hopkins St. — for an aggravated assault on Saturday at approximately 8:10 p.m. Police said bar staff reported that a Hispanic male — identified as Edward Eddie Rodriguez Jr., 36, of Bertram — pulled a knife on a bouncer. 

Officials said Rodriguez was “highly intoxicated” and was detained upon officers’ arrival. SMPD said officers found Rodriguez in possession of a fixed blade knife and drugs. Police arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespassing, police said. 

Rodriguez was booked into the Hays County Jail and posted bond of $17,000 on Monday. 

SMPD said police were dispatched to The Village on Telluride, 201 Telluride Street, for a physical disturbance involving a firearm at approximately 2:01 a.m. on Sunday. Officials said the complainant advised that the subjects left the complex in a white Chrysler 200. 

Police located the vehicle, which proceeded to evade officers when they attempted to conduct an investigative stop, officials said. 

SMPD stated that the male driver — later identified as Dominic Aaron Flores, 19, of Maxwell — fled the vehicle on foot. Three females were detained inside the vehicle and were identified as Asianaye Nicole Polk, 18, of San Marcos; Imani Brielle Johnson, 17, of Lockhart; and Arianna Shaivonique Daniels, 18, of San Antonio. Officials said a handgun was located inside the vehicle. 

Police said Flores was later found and arrested. SMPD added that he had warrants out of Hays County for unlawfully carrying a weapon, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. Flores was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and multiple counts of evading arrest. As of press time Tuesday, Flores remained in the Hays County Jail on $217,000 in bonds. 

SMPD said it determined after the conclusion of an investigation that Imani Johnson assaulted another female and fired several rounds at the female and her friends. Police added that Flores grabbed the handgun at one point and aimed it at several people. But no one was injured by the gunfire, SMPD said. 

Johnson was arrested for multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of assault-bodily injury. Bail was set at $255,000. Asianaye Polk was charged with assault-bodily injury and unlawfully carrying a weapon, and bail was set at $6,000. Arianna Daniels was also arrested for assault-bodily injury with bail set at $4,000. At press time Tuesday, Johnson was the only person arrested who remained in the county jail.
