Constable’s staff involved in political forum altercation

Staff members from Hays County Precinct 3 Constable Ray Helm’s office were involved in an altercation during a political forum on Wednesday.

The altercation involved an Austin-area television crew and members of Helm’s office at the conclusion of a political forum hosted by two local Hays County law enforcement associations at the Wimberley Community Center, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said. 

Officials say the altercation resulted in a minor injury to a person attending the forum. 

The sheriff’s office responded to the incident, took a report and gathered statements. HSCO requested that the Texas Rangers take over the investigation because the incident involved an elected official and his staff.
