Kyle Police arrest parents in death of 21-month-old boy

Kyle, TX – Kyle police confirmed the arrest of the parents of a 21-month-old boy, who died on July 4. Stevie Dwayne Williams, 24, and Dazrine Ruth Chagoya-Williams, 20, both of Kyle, were charged with Capital Murder of a Person Under 10 Years Old and Injury to a Child with Serious Bodily Injury, which are capital felonies.

The Injury to a Child charges, according to police, are for injuries to the couple’s youngest child, who was removed from the home by Child Protective Services (CPS). Reports indicate the infant girl also was found to have bodily injuries.

Kyle officers responded on July 4 to a home in the 300 block of Marquitos Dr. regarding a child not conscious or breathing. Fire and EMS officials were on scene attempting to revive the male child when police arrived.

“Officers observed visible injuries on the victim's body, including bruising on his left and right rib area, bruising on his back and bruising on his forehead,” Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said.

According to Barnett, the child passed away in the home. Hays County Justice of the Peace Beth Smith ordered an autopsy.

“Additional investigation found there were prior CPS reports involving the parents and the victim,” Barnett said.

Williams and Williams-Chagoya were arrested today without incident and booked into the Hays County Jail.
