SMPD issues arrest warrants for former San Marcos High School teacher

San Marcos Police issued warrants for a former San Marcos High School teacher and coach after receiving reports of an improper sexual relationship with a student. 

David Ross Guerrero, 34, was determined as a suspect in an improper relationship between an educator and student, according to an investigation conducted by SMPD detective Robert Elrod. 

On Nov. 28 2018, a female victim reported a sexual assault that occured in 2008. The victim was a student at the high school and allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with Guerrero. 

According to police, Guerrero and the victim engaged in sexual intercourse on approximately six separate occasions. This occured between June and July of 2008. Guerrero was an English teacher and assistant coach for the girls’ soccer team at the high school. Officials said Guerrero left SMHS in 2013 and currently lives in Colorado. 

SMPD issued two warrants for Guerrero for sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student. 
 
Police believe there may have been similar victims at the high school between 2007 and 2013, according to information gathered during the investigation. SMPD ask that anyone with information to contact SMPD at 512-753-2132 or Relrod@sanmarcostx.gov
