Glenn Hegar

Glenn Hegar is a 2018 Republican candidate seeking re-election to the office of Comptroller of Public Accounts for the State of Texas. He was born in Houston and now calls Katy  home. His  political background includes his current position as Comptroller of Public Accounts since 2014, but was also a Texas State Senator from 2007 to 2015 and a  Representative or the Texas State House of Representatives from 2002 to 2006. Hegar is a Member of the Environmental Flows Advisory Group, Chair of the Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus, Member of the Republican Legislative Caucus, Member of the Rural Legislative Caucus and Chair of the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. He  also owns and is a Farmer at Hegar Farms. He  is part of many Chambers of Commerce and is the Chair of the Katy Area Performing Arts Society as well as a member of the Veterans and Military Affairs Coalition.  Hegar earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Texas A&M University in 1993, his Master of Arts in International Economic Relations from Saint Mary’s University in 1997, his J.D.  from Saint Mary’s University School of Law in 1997; and lastly, his LLM in Agricultural Law from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1998.
